BLU State Affiliates

The BLU State Affiliate Network is a partnership between BLU and the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) to advance business-led workforce policy proposals in fifteen states across the country by 2020.

Each BLU State Affiliate is led by a local, regional, or state chamber of commerce that has committed to convening peer chambers across the state— together with relevant economic development organizations, industry associations, and employers— to develop a state policy agenda for workforce development and skills training that responds to the needs of industry in the state. The chamber community is uniquely positioned to bring together the voices of business and advocate on their behalf— and, with the leadership of ACCE’s Education and Talent Development Division, chambers across the country have become a critical resource for their members in the shared struggle to find, train, and retain skilled workers.

As states continue to reform higher education, work-based learning and apprenticeship programs, data systems and tools, and other components of the workforce system, it is critical that businesses speak with a unified voice about how those efforts can best align with industry demand. With BLU’s policy guidance and the depth of ACCE’s network, the BLU State Affiliate Network seeks to scale industry-led workforce policy across the states through shared learning, elevating best practices, and building momentum for a workforce system that works for business.

This initiative is made possible by the support of Ballmer Group and J.P. Morgan Chase Foundation.
