
Geoff Vercauteren
System Director of Workforce Development Tufts MedicineGeoff has over 25 years of experience in workforce development, career counseling and professional coaching, 20 of those in the healthcare environment. He has worked in both the public and private sectors and has dedicated his career to expanding opportunities for people to obtain good jobs and thrive in family sustaining careers.
Geoff is currently the System Director of Workforce Development at Tufts Medicine, a role he began in September 2024. He is leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive, system-wide workforce development strategy that integrates both inside-up and outside-in approaches. His work focuses on expanding internal career pathways, upskilling employees, and strengthening partnerships with external organizations to build talent pipelines that align with healthcare workforce needs. Through these efforts, he aims to enhance employee growth, improve retention, and ensure Tufts Medicine remains an employer of choice in Massachusetts.
Prior to that, Geoff was the Director of Workforce Development at Network4Health/Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Network4Health (N4H) was a workforce intermediary originally established as Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) Region 4 - part of NH’s 1115 Medicaid Transformation Waiver. N4H acted as a neutral convener and funder of various workforce development programs.
He led the design and implementation of workforce initiatives in Greater Manchester, focusing on expanding the talent pipeline, enhancing professional development, supporting career advancement, and improving retention at partner organizations. His efforts aimed to create a skilled and confident workforce while reducing turnover. During his time on the project, he managed and distributed nearly $2.5 million in funding to support these initiatives.
Before Network4Health, Geoff was the Director of Healthcare Workforce Development for the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. There he implemented the department’s workforce plan for the allied health sector which focused on increasing access to training, promoting education system alignment, and building educational career ladders for the allied health direct care workforce (including nursing assistants, home care workers, medical assistants, etc.).
Prior to that role, Geoff served as the Director of Workforce Development at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he oversaw the planning, development, and execution of workforce initiatives for a major academic medical center. His work focused on three key areas: supporting the hospital’s incumbent workforce, creating employment opportunities for Boston’s youth, and strengthening hiring connections within the local community. He led the design, marketing, recruitment, and implementation of more than 15 employee education and career ladder programs, as well as six youth employment initiatives.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Northeastern University, is a Registered Corporate Coach with the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches, and Certified Professional Resume Writer. He lives in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts with his wife Christy and son Carter.
